Angelfish

Angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare)
Overview: Angelfish are elegant South American cichlids found in the Amazon River Basin and surrounding waterways. Known for their tall, triangular bodies and graceful swimming, they add a striking presence to community aquariums.
Varieties: Standard Silver, Zebra, Marble, Koi, Ghost, Black Lace, Veil, and Albino Angelfish. Selective breeding has produced long fins and striking color morphs.
Care & Tank Setup:
Minimum tank: 30 gallons, with height preferred due to body shape.
Temperature: 76-82 degrees F (24-28 degrees C)
pH: 6.5-7.2
Tall plants and driftwood help mimic their Amazonian habitat.
Temperament: Semi-aggressive, especially during breeding. Can be peaceful in groups but may bully smaller tankmates.
Tankmates: Compatible with medium-sized peaceful fish: Corydoras, Plecos, Gouramis, larger Tetras (like Black Skirt or Rummynose). Avoid fin-nippers and very small fish that may be eaten.
